Clear skies, a space case, and a different tour
No threatening clouds on the horizon this morning. I had a beautiful 42 mile ride. I got passed twice by a large peloton of riders, and I thought about trying to tag onto the end of their group, but then I decided I was better off on my own.
The one big screw-up I made is that I completely spaced on calling my friend Gary yesterday so that we could meet and ride together this morning. I didn’t even think about it until I was out on the road, and I didn’t think it would be right to go knock on his door at 7 AM. My only hope is that he wasn’t really up for it anyway. He was complaining of feeling a bit ill for the past few days when I saw him on Friday after work. None of that is to say I don’t wish him better.
Marcella rode in the Tour to Tanglewood yesterday. This is a charity bike ride to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. They have rides of varying lengths, she did the 20 mile. More precisely, she said it was 22 miles. I think they have somewhere in the range of 1500 riders participate. It’s a pretty big event. Marcella says the day was beautiful, just perfect, and she had a really great time. She was so excited about it I think it’s inspiring her to want to ride more. She even said she hopes to prepare a little more next year so that she can do the longer ride that ranges around 50 miles.
I’m hoping I’ll get a picture or two that I can either post or link to of Marcella at the ride. If you follow the link I’ve include above to the organization’s home page there appears to be a link to a youtube video of the event. I haven’t checked it out myself yet, so I don’t know exactly what it might consist of.
