This is the first self portrait in my project 52 I’m attempting this year. The intent is to take a self-portrait a week for an entire year. Given the narrow scope of the project I’m hoping it will force me to be creative. I’m also hoping it will serve as an education for me on how to better capture and photograph people.
I expect I’ll be posting on the weekends, although sometimes I might post early or late. The main constraint I’m imposing on myself is that I must take the photo in the appropriate week. For convenience I’m defining the week as Sunday through Saturday. Just so I’ve got some rules to abide by and a clear weekly deadline.
I hope you enjoy, and feel free to comment.
A couple of years ago I did a 365 project. The idea was to take a picture a day, every day, for an entire year. It was a great project, and it forced me to keep on the lookout for photo ideas all the time, as well as to always have my camera with me.
This past year I was disappointed that I failed to practice my photography as much as I had intended. So this year I’m planning a new project to give me the added motivation to take pictures. This one will be a 52 project. The idea is to take a picture every week. The twist I plan for this project is that the photos will all be self-portraits.
Now, this will be a challenge for me, since I’m not a huge fan of how I look on film. I’m also not big on photographing people generally. But that’s the whole point, to force me to practice something different; a discipline I don’t believe I have a natural facility for.
Since we are now in the first week of 2013 I plan to post a photo by the end of this upcoming weekend if not sooner. Stay tuned.
I’ve been dabbling with the site some. I realize a couple of the image posts are showing the image as duplicates in the header. It’s something I’m researching, but if you would just please ignore the oddity, the site should still work just fine.
